What’s Cookin’, Good Lookin’?!!

It’s time to reveal the identities of our stellar entries in the North Carolina Design Reader’s Choice Contest for Kitchens. Today and tomorrow we will be letting you know who is responsible for the the design of the fantastic kitchens that we showcased during the past month. A few days ago, you saw the winner and the runner up, but truly they are all first class, executed with impeccable detail. All I can say is… enjoy!

Barn Doors In Blue

As a design-build contractor, Eddie DeRhodes of DeRhodes Construction creates his designs from the ground up, using his expert craftsmanship and keen eye for detail to tailor each project to the needs of his clients. In his entry, “Barn Doors in Blue,” he uses crisp whites for a wonderfully fresh look, and sculpted metal accents to provide a touch of rustic artistry throughout. The beautiful hanging blue barn doors by the Charlotte remodeler impart a nostalgic charm, and serve as a surprising function; they open to reveal a large hidden storage space.

Better Than Candy

Vicky Serany of Southern Studio, an award-winning Raleigh interior design firm, is known for bringing a high level of creativity and personal attention to each of her designs. Her entry, “Better than Candy,” is a dream kitchen realized. White moulded cabinets and paneled glass cabinet doors offer wonderful traditional charm, while clean, elegant lines impart just a touch of contemporary sophistication. Vicky’s love of playing with patterns, textures and lines shines through in the details of this kitchen, from the eye-catching herringbone backsplash above the stove, to the beautifully curved antique counter chairs.

Black And White

Laura Redd of the Greensboro interior design firrm, Laura Redd Interiors prides herself on creating interiors that are a beautiful blend of form and function, expressing both who her clients are, and how they live. In this entry, “Black and White,” she brings to life a delightfully harmonious blend of patterns, textures, and color. From the striking glass backsplash, to contrasting black and white cabinetry, to the rich and varied natural grain of the oak floors, there is beauty and visual interest everywhere you look in this kitchen. Meanwhile, the plush extra seating area is a particularly cozy and inviting touch!

Spanish Moss

Charlotte kitchen designer, Carolyn Hyatt of E3 Cabinets And Design artfully showcases the premier kitchen and bath design firm’s innovative concepts, distinctive style and expert craftsmanship in her entry, “Spanish Moss.” Carolyn’s deep green cabinets are a bold and exceptionally beautiful choice, and they are wonderfully offset by the pale rust hues in the tile backsplash. The whole kitchen features a seamless blend of industrial, contemporary and traditional touches that make it a truly warm, sophisticated and visually interesting space.

Lemon Zest

Talli Allen-Roberts of the award winning, Asheville interior design firm, Allard & Roberts, keeps her focus on harmoniously blending the lifestyles and aesthetics of her clients as she creates living spaces that are both superbly beautiful and highly functional. Her entry, “Lemon Zest,” is an exercise in contrasts, combining crisp whites, gleaming stainless steel and shimmering glass with rich, dark wood for a look that’s timeless, as well as fresh and wonderfully sophisticated. The saddle-style counter stools offer a special touch of rustic charm, while the C-shaped counter is an impressive and stylish use of space.

Bountiful Sunlight

At the helm of Kevin Jones Design-Build is Kevin Jones himself, a full-service Greensboro remodeler who is consistently given high marks in the Piedmont Triad, and is committed to providing his clients quality craftsmanship from conception to completion. In his inspiring entry, “Bountiful Sunlight,” Kevin uses a flood of natural light through beautiful paneled windows to create a bright, inviting space. Meanwhile, striking white cabinetry contrasts with darker wood accents for a look that’s fresh, yet features traditional warmth. This space isn’t just beautifully executed; ample seating and storage space gives it exceptional function as well.

Whistling Tea Kettle

Sally Williams of the Raleigh interior design firm, Colorful Concepts Interior Design is known for creating interior designs with a timeless, multicultural aesthetic that works seamlessly in both modern and traditional spaces. Her entry, “Whistling Tea Kettle,” is a charming and beautiful kitchen space, where simple white cabinetry is adorned with artful moulding, and intricate carved details. One of the room’s best features is the backsplash, which features beautifully detailed tiles in an eye-catching design. Meanwhile, the light peach color reflected throughout the kitchen offers a fresh feel that invites you right in.
