Using Color To Personalize Design

Posted on | August 13, 2012 | 1 Comment

Over the years, I could not venture a guess as to the number of interior design websites I have visited. Countless? Not exactly, but it certainly is quite a few. In their own words, most designers express their desire to reflect the personality and style of their clients. The fabrics, furnishings, artwork, and personal collections tell a story of who their clients are and the journey that they have taken thus far in life.

The two entries in our Living In Style Interior Design Contest are a contrast in color. “Coat of Many Colors” tells us that story using vibrant colors, while “Lighter Shade Of Pale” employs neutral tones. Color is indeed a personal thing. The beauty is that there is no single path in arriving at good design. Classic and timeless design can indeed take many directions.

As a Designer who specializes in just color I can tell you that color has many powers. The power to change mood, atmosphere and just the overall feeling of a room. The quest is always to find the right color to bring out the feeling that we want to represent for a room. This takes years of experience to perfect. But isn’t it so rewarding when you do find the right color combo to find the look you need. Great post!
