Master Bath Entries – All Winners In My Mind

I wanted to share a detailed summary on the other entries in our Readers’ Choice Master Bath Contest. Everyone will agree, the quality of the work is outstanding. I wanted you, our Readers to be able to know more than just the name and location of these entries. With words, I want to in a small way, figuratively put a face to the person and the company behind the talent. They deserve that. I hope you enjoy. In my mind, they are all absolutely AMAZING!!

Make the World Go Away
Kathryn Long, Ambiance Interiors, Asheville, NC

Kathryn Long of Ambiance Interiors is dedicated to helping clients create warm, welcoming spaces that are beautiful and timeless. Kathryn specializes in new construction and renovation, and works with clients from the initial drawing phases to the finished product.  Kathryn is well-known for her superb attention to detail, as displayed in this fabulous entry—note that the towels and sink accessories are a perfect complement to the room color. She also has an amazing eye for art, and a knack for finding the perfect piece to go with a room–in this case a wonderfully appointed sculpture at the foot of the tub.


Mirror Mirror
June Delugas, June Delugas Interiors, Winston-Salem, NC

June DeLugas of June DeLugas Interiors is a Winston Salem-based interior designer who has brought her design expertise to the the Triad for over 25 years. June is known for her passion for color, texture and artistry, and for being a joy to work with, both for homeowners and for builders. In her entry, “Mirror, Mirror,” June makes wonderful use of the available space, and creates a seamless organic flow into the adjoining rooms. The master bath’s beautiful white cabinetry has a timeless appeal, and the shower is outstanding. However, the standout feature in this room is the beautifully crafted set of mirrors, which add depth, dimension and wonderful visual interest to the room.

Elegant Reward
Charlie O’Melveny, Shea Custom, Charlotte, NC

For 128 years, the Shea name has stood for quality and excellent craftsmanship. What began as a small plumbing company is now the largest privately held builder in the nation—managed solely by family throughout its storied history. Custom baths are one of the many thing Shea Custom is known for in Charlotte, and “Elegant Reward” shows us why. Elegant indeed, this subdued, yet sophisticated master bath features abundant space for relaxation, a bright, fresh feel, and ample storage. The room’s best features include a wonderful touch of unique artistry on the cabinets, and a tub that would be heavenly to ease into at the end of a long day.


Evening Retreat
Ned Eldridge, James Critz, Jann Oakes, Sammy Stratton, Henry Greene, Stephen Helms, Billy Byerly, David Boswell, David Truitt, Scott Rickert and James Van Leuvan; Ned Eldridge, Inc., High Point, NC

Located in High Point, Ned Eldridge of Ned Eldridge Residential Restoration has provided general contracting, construction and remodeling services since 1982. Ned is known for superior craftsmanship and integrity, and for seamlessly blending the beautiful and the functional. His entry, “Evening Retreat,” is no exception. This master bath features universal design, with a curbless shower and a wheelchair-accessible vanity. Ned achieved this design without sacrificing beauty or design quality; this is an inviting, elegant and lovely space with a fabulous shower, abundant storage and a bright, yet relaxing atmosphere.


Peaceful Respite
Kendra Tardif, Pheasant Hill Designs, Charlotte, NC

Kendra Tardif of Pheasant Hill Designs is a Charlotte interior designer specializing in creating “traditional interiors with a twist.” Kendra believes in using the finer details of a home’s design to express a homeowner’s individuality and life experiences. Kendra works throughout the home, but is known for her expertise in kitchen and bath design. In “Peaceful Respite,” she has created a covet-worthy mini spa-like retreat for this homeowner, seamlessly combining traditional and contemporary elements. The dark wood cabinetry is particularly beautiful, and makes a warm contrast to the clean lines, glossy surfaces and bright, airy feel of the room.


Infitity’s Reflection
Eddie Rider, Eddie Rider Designs, Raleigh, NC

Based in Raleigh, Eddie Rider of Eddie Rider Designs is a premier custom home designer specializing in creating turnkey designs. Eddie walks clients through projects from start to finish, offering pre-construction planning and helping them choose the ideal materials for their specific construction goals. Eddie is known for his cohesive, artful designs, which focus on comfort and livability. His entry, “Infinity’s Reflection,” is bright, airy, supremely elegant, and rich with natural light. It also features a number of thoughtful and beautiful details, such as the elaborate tilework, the sculpted cabinet bases, and the infinity mirror effect. The stand-alone tub, enormous windows and picturesque view are the stuff that master bath dreams are made of.


Bathed in White
Lisa Jones, Kitchen & Bath Galleries, Raleigh, NC

The designers at Kitchen & Bath Galleries work with homeowners and builders creating spaces that are beautiful and functional, in any imaginable style. Lisa White’s entry, “Bathed in White,” features clean lines, a fresh look and contemporary fixtures, yet maintains a quaint and timeless quality. Nature adds to the stunning features of this master bath with the abundance of natural light and the delightful view afforded by the artfully sculpted windows.


Gracious Space
Lacy Oliver, Ihrie Supply Company, Morehead City, NC

Ihrie Supply Company provides decorative plumbing and hardware at six unique locations in Coastal and Eastern North Carolina. Their stunning showrooms feature a myriad of kitchen and bath products for creating a custom look, including fixtures, sinks, showers, baths and toilets. Ihrie also offers clients a select line of custom cabinetry created to perfectly suit any taste. Their entry, “Gracious Space,” is a warm and soothing retreat that offers both the decadence of a spa and the comfort of home. Distressed cabinetry gives this master bath a wonderful rustic touch, while an incredibly spacious shower and lovely garden tub make it oh-so-inviting.
