Living In Style Contest – Our Winner & Big Reveal

Posted on | September 5, 2012 | 3 Comments

Throughout the month of August we presented to you the entries in our Living In Style Interior Design Contest. These living rooms, family rooms and dens represent creative talents of outstanding designers from across the state – the mountains, the Piedmont and Eastern North Carolina. By the number of votes that came in day after day, we could tell that you liked what you saw. Some of you were drawn to classic detailing, others to contemporary styling.

The votes have been counted and the winner of our Living In Style Contest is Charlotte interior designer Amy Vermillion of Martineau Vermillion Interior Design. Many of those who voted for “A Great Read” added comments about the warmth of this den and their desire to curl up in the room with a good book of their own. From furnishings to accessories, the room is wonderfully appointed by Amy. The room truly beckons you in. As an avid reader, I personally found myself wishing I could see titles of the books that fill the shelves.

Our runner-up in the contest is the entry, “A Sentimental Journey,” submitted by Anita Holland, of Anita Holland Interiors, in Charlotte. The challenge that designers tell me that they enjoy more than any other is creating interiors that reflect the style and personality of their clients. In this living room, one of the ways that Anita personalized the space and created greater interest was by taking a garden gate which her client owned, and transforming it into the coffee table (shown below).
