Flowers – Nature’s Accent on Interior Design

I recently went to visit my parents at the beach for a long weekend. Walking into the kitchen, I was greeted by a beautiful vase of cut flowers. It wasn’t an unusual sight. Any time I visit, my Mother always has fresh flowers in their home. They are they indeed a visual delight, and the air is filled with a sweet smell that says, “welcome.”

Breathing life into a space, flowers are a design element that works well for any type of décor and any season. Not only do flowers bring the outdoors in, they have the ability to lift your spirits. They can provide a one minute vacation from a hectic day.

In a room designed with a neutral palette, they add a punch of color. Vases or containers can add some notable contrast to the room. Over the years, I’ve been on countless photo shoots. So often, prepping for the shot includes the careful placement of cut flowers and flowering plants. Drawing the viewer’s eye, they definitely personalize the space.

When I see roses, colorful orchids or a lovely vase of seasonal flowers, I think about a famous line from the Irish poet, John Keats. “A thing of beauty is a joy forever.”

Thank you for the mention Liz! Those were simply white hydrangeas I quickly put in a white cachepot for the photoshoot. Flowers make such a difference.
