Suzanne & Liz,1962

Twelve years ago, my sister Suzanne Hughes Sullivan and I began this wonderful journey when we published our first issue of North Carolina Classic Design Elements Magazine. It was our vision to present homeowners with an elegant view of our state’s most notable design professionals, retailers, craftsmen and artisans. Every edition was filled with unique and innovative design possibilities for all areas of their home. We saw our magazine not only as an outstanding resource guide but as a piece of art that graced coffee tables year after year.

A lot has changed in the past 12 years. Publishing an annual resource guide for interior design doesn’t make the same sense it once did. The need for quality design services and products hasn’t changed, but the Internet is now the go-to place for design information and inspiration – 24/7. We are making the online transition as well! For homeowners building, remodeling or personalizing their interiors, North Carolina Design Online is now a single destination covering all areas of the home – any time, anywhere.

I’ve been the publisher of a design magazine for over a decade and I’ve seen countless trends come and go. Trends don’t last. (Is that why they’re called trends?) So, what lasts? Outstanding designers, retailers and professionals who have dedicated themselves to quality, customer service and great style. These are the advertisers we feature, and the kind of people we like to work with. We remain our state’s premier interior design resource guide, only better. Search with ease for quality products and services within our Directory or for great ideas in Features such as Interior Design Ideas and the Ask the Expert.

Thanks for your reply Julia! I think the best thing about the picture is the woman on the beach who is burying herself in the sand!
